Non-allergic rhinitis with eosinophilia syndrome

Nonallergic Rhinitis with Eosinophilia Syndrome (NARES) is a form of perennial nonallergic rhinitis. Perennial symptoms include:

  • Sneezing
  • Profuse watery runny nose
  • Nasal itching
  • Eosinophilia on nasal smear
  • No evidence of allergies on skin testing or blood testing

The cause of NARES is unknown. Nasal corticosteroids, antihistamines, mucolytics and anticholinergic agents are used to treat this condition.
