TYPE OF MEDICATION USE:
 

Corticosteroid nasal spray for the relief of the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, non-allergic rhinitis, and nasal polyposis

PHARMACY FACTS:
 

Flonase is a topical corticorsteroid with anti-inflammatory effect

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
 

Hypersensitivity to fluticasone

USE CAUTIOUSLY IN THE FOLLOWING DISORDERS:
  None
SIDE EFFECTS:
 

Neurological: Headache, lightheadedness
ENT: Irritation and burning of the nasal mucosa, nasal ulceration, epistaxis, (rarely) septal perforation, unpleasant taste and smell, sneezing, sore throat
Respiratory: None
Gastro: Nausea

DRUG INTERACTIONS:
 

Caution with ketoconazole

DOSAGE:
 

2 sprays each nostril once daily, or two sprays divided twice daily
If possible reduce to one spray per nostril once daily for maintenance

SPECIAL ADMINISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS:
 

Therapeutic effect may not be seen until 12 hours to several days
