The Asthma Center is the only accredited pollen and mold spore monitoring station for the The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology serving metropolitan Philadelphia. Pollen is not typically seen in our area from this time of year to early March. Mold spores, however, will continue to be present and levels will fluctuate depending upon humidity, temperature, and snowfall. Higher humidity and higher temperatures will elevate mold spore counts. A mild winter, therefore, may result in continued high mold spore levels. With snow cover, mold spores will decrease to insignificant levels. The Asthma Center pollen count report and allergy and asthma advisory will resume in March 2010 with the beginning of the spring hayfever season. Mold spore counts will be reported on the website through the winter when available.

For those people interested in participating in new drug trials as paid volunteers for hayfever, asthma, sinus, and viral respiratory infection studies, please call our research study center at (215) 677-3840, or in New Jersey at (856) 235-2196. If you would like free information about asthma, allergy, sinusitis, and/or drug and food allergy, please call The Asthma Center at 215-569-1111. If you would like to become a patient, call (215) 569-1111 for an appointment. The Asthma Center pollen and mold spore report is a public service supported in part by The Asthma Center Education and Research Fund. Thank you.

Note: Volumetric air sampling is performed by the Burkard Trap Device. Sampling is obtained by a 24 hour period.
